Ability VS Availability

Before i go to the main topic what u see above, i just wanna say that the existence of the devil is as real as the existence of God. if u tink that by handing everything to God then it will be smooth sailing then i tell you NO NO NO!! just as God spoke to me about holy determination and tenacity through the last wk end, the devil responded by taunting me to get back to my old ways today.. but i am not going to give up!! i am going to fight.. my wonderful CGL always says,

The day you stop fighting for God is the day you start to backslide

so if you are facing waves and waves of taunting from the evil one let me tell you dont give up. u may fall but from that stop u stand up! we all, the righteous of God, may fall 7 times but each time we stand up again and keep on fighting!

turn to your neighbour and tell them:

DAVID CHEN IS A FIGHTER FOR GOD!!!

so back to my main topic of the day.. i really encouraged and beseech all of you to go to www.crosswalk.com to sign up this daily devotion thing called Today God Is First. i will receive an email everyday from them but didnt really feel very motivated to read everytime but once in a while God will nudge me to go and read up and i always get so ministered. they really produce wonderful materials.

today i just felt that i got to go read again and once again it is very very good.. so do u tink God needs your talents and abilities? if not why did God give them to us? so if He gives them to us then He dont need our talents then what's the thing He is looking for in us?? take your time to read this passage below.. may be a little lengthy but it helped me and i tink it will help you to have a better attitude when it comes to serving Him.. enjoy...

Ability Versus Availability

Psalms 147:10-11
His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor His delight in the legs of a man; the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.

Do you ever feel so skilled in what you do that you require little help from others? Perhaps you may feel that you are more skilled than any other in your field. Does God need your skills and abilities in order to accomplish His purposes on this earth? The answer is NO.

One thing God does not need is our skills and abilities. However, He does give us the privilege to exercise our gifts and abilities for His service. That service may be as a computer technician, a secretary, an ironworker, or even a lawyer. God calls each of us to our vocations to work unto Him. To believe that He needs our skills to accomplish His mission on earth would be to lower our understanding of an all-encompassing and all-powerful God. The psalmist tells us that His pleasure is not in our strength and ability, but His pleasure is in the attitude of the heart. It is what we find in the heart that helps determine whether ability is translated into availability. You see, God is looking to and fro throughout the earth for a man or woman who is fully committed to Him. A man or woman who is committed to fearing the Lord and placing his hope in His unfailing love is the person God seeks to support. "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him" (2 Chron. 16:9a). When our agenda becomes His agenda, we can expect God to fully support all that we do.

If we want to see our skills and abilities multiplied a hundredfold, then we must make them completely available to His service. Where are the opportunities in which God is calling you to be available to Him? Next time someone asks you to be involved in some activity, before you say yea or nay, make sure you check in with the Master of our decisions to ensure that your gifts and talents are being used as He desires.

i would say this applies alot to people who are so involved in ministry in church until a point u feel that u need to serve, or put it in other words God need your service? we always say serve God serve God but actually we are offering God your service. Pst Tan once said that we offer and since it is an offer it doesnt means God have to accept it. so serving doesnt excuse you from worship, serving doesnt excuse you from giving, serving doesnt excuse you from discipleship. dont come to a point whereby your CGL ask you to do something of a higher priority and you happily shout out "SORRY I AM ON DUTY!!" then i encourage the CGL to shout back "SO WHAT?!?!?!?"

haha but the point is about the heart.. it is always about the heart.. the motivation like a posted few posts back.. it is out of the motivation of the heart that flows the actions of the hands.. check your heart before you do anything.. if it affects how God will look at you, i tink it is worth the trouble checking your heart for every issue.. how wonderful if it can become a habit.. everytime u do something u *CHECK* okok the motivation is right.. then you go ahead.. :)

Dear Jesus,

pls give me the right attitude to serve you. i dont wan to please man, i want to pls you. convert my abilities into my availability for you. make me have the right motivation in everything that i do. i pray that when i make all my abilities available to You, You will multiply and make me more effective and productive. thank you Jesus.. love you! :)

Amen!
